Well, I upgraded to WordPress 2.6 beta1. Everything went smooth using InstantUpgrade 1.0-beta2 plugin. WordPress 2.6 beta1 has a few interface tweaks that add improved functionality, like the plugins page now separates active from available.
Still using the K2 theme. The most recent nightly version - K2 RC6 revision 692 works great. I tried the k9 theme from one of the K2 developers but it would not load correctly with WordPress 2.6 beta1.

May I know what’s wrong?
I get this -
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_sidebar_widget() in /xxxxx/wp-content/themes/k9/functions.php on line 709
I am not much of a programmer, so I did not look into what this means. The only sidebar additions I have are from using the K2 Sidebar Manager: Search, Meta Info, Latest Posts, and 2 Text, HTML,and PHP.
I get the above fatal error when I select k9 from the Design admin tab. When I switch back to K2 I have to reselect Save Changes in K2 Options to have the Sidebar Manager work even though the option is already selected.
Ah! Please refer to this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/164296 and some the response there.
I did not find (from above link)
“To fix the error:
navigate to your K2 folder -> app -> includes
edit the file widgets-removal.php as below”
But your new nightly K2 RC6 r695 works well with WordPress release version 2.6
The K2 forums state the only minor issue is you can not delete modules and that you can drag module to “disabled” to prevent from showing. See my new post from July 15th.
Thanks for the help.
